The Bombing of Hiroshima:

  • Importance:
The bombing of Hiroshima resulted in the surrender of Japan, which was the conclusion of World War II.
  • Strategy, Purpose, & Outcome:
I wouldn't say that an actual battle took place at Hiroshima. The U.S. simply needed to make a move that would cause the Japanese to surrender and exit the war. The solution was carried out at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Here, the U.S. dropped the newly introduced atomic bomb. It obliterated nearly all of the city and its inhabitants. There was nothing left of Hiroshima. The same occured at Nagasaki. This resulted in the surrender of the Japanese to American forces, bringing an end to the war.
